PL Series Microphones

The Working Band's Toolkit

Live microphones tuned for the gig: supercardioid vocals with built-in pop control and drum mics voiced for kick, snare and toms — with clamps and clever cable routing that keep the kit clean.

PL80A — Supercardioid Vocal

Get in close. It gets warm. Work the mic close and the low end rises to meet you, no technique to learn, no EQ move at soundcheck. The pop filter's already inside, so the plosives that used to thump the PA don't. Point the null at your wedge and you've got room to push the monitors before anything rings. For garage bands & Sunday mornings.

PL24S — Vocal With Switch

The mic's going to change hands tonight. That's fine. The switch sits right where your thumb lands, so whoever's holding it can cut it before they pass it, and nobody at the desk has to ride a fader through every handoff. Supercardioid, so it hears the person holding it and not much else. For open mics & open meetings.

PL33 — Kick Drum Mic

It's voiced for the beater, so the click's there before you touch an EQ. Tight lows. Mids shaped like a kick. Enough top to cut a dense mix. Put it 2 to 4 inches inside the port, a little off-center at the beater, and it's done. Same story on a floor tom or a bass cab. For soundchecks & sessions.

PL35 — Snare & Tom Mic

The cable exits at an angle, so the connector sits below stick height and stays there. No knuckle on the XLR halfway through a fill. It's voiced open and natural, so the drum sounds like the drum and the hat stays out of it. Mounts at the rim and gets out of the way. For house kits & rental fleets.

PL37 — Condenser Instrument Mic

It's a condenser, so it hears what the dynamics miss. Cymbal wash with the shimmer intact. A hi-hat that sounds like brass instead of a tick. Give it 48V and a room that's been thought about, and it'll show you everything, including a few things you'd rather it didn't. Put it over the kit with a PL33 and a PL35 underneath and the whole thing comes from one place. For cymbals & songwriters.
